Anna (and Coach Dad) finished up soccer season. Molly played in the first symphony performance of the season, and is practicing long hours for the musical this weekend. Jeff and Tiff are playing hot potato with the household responsibilities, weaving them around kid stuff and work demands. We hosted three lovely young ladies from Uganda in our home last week. After their wonderful choir performance Thursday night, we set off for Washington, DC.
My little sister's baby was born at the end of August, and we still hadn't seen her. The grandparents all visited right away, and then it was into the school year, symphony practices, soccer season, etc. I think I cried and begged my sister when she called for my birthday if we could please, please come Veteran's Day weekend. Her mother-in-law nicely moved her visit to the weekend before.
So we were able to spend the weekend with the fabulous Jovie.
The girl cousins.
Anna reading to Jovie. Jovie liked it - but she caught me taking the picture and looked up to give me a grin.
Jovie says "arrgg!" Jeff loves babies. He likes to snuggle with them. Being Uncle Jeff, he is also a fan of silliness and rough-housing with the kids. It was so funny that this niece of his already knows that Uncle Jeff is for crazy fun. She spooks kind of easy, but for some reason just loved when Uncle Jeff would shake her little fist and growl "arrrggg!" like a pirate.
We got out on Saturday to enjoy the beautiful day. The ladies by the Tidal Basin. The cherry trees were in fall color this time.
We visited the new MLK memorial. It was very crowded, but I thought it was nicely done. Except for this out-of-context quote from the famous "Drum Major Instinct" sermon.
Molly and Anna with Eleanor. We had never made it to the Franklin Roosevelt memorial either. It was really well done. Except I would have chosen a different quote. My favorite Eleanor Roosevelt quote is "Do one thing every day that scares you."
It was a great weekend. Little Jovie is an amazing sleeper, a charming conversationalist, and super cuddly. And of course, very cute:)
