Precocious

Jeff went on a quick business trip to New York City.  His department chair dragged him to an off-Broadway production called "The Fantastics." (He wanted to go to a baseball game).

He was telling us about it at the dinner table.  "It's about how these 2 dads build a wall between their houses to keep their son and daughter from liking each other.  But 'the boy' and 'the girl' keep finding ways around the wall to talk to each other.  The dads find out and yell at them and tell them to get away from each other, but that just makes 'the boy' and 'the girl' like each other even more and try harder."

Anna casually interjected, "Oh, it sounds like kind of a twist on Romeo and Juliet."

Last time I checked, she is 7.  And when did she read Romeo and Juliet?  And no, she has not seen "Gnomeo and Juliet."  It just seems like the kind of thing that self-proclaimed literary snobs should shun and force their children to shun as well.

"Well,"her surprised dad responded, "well - that's exactly right. Kind of like a twist on Romeo and Juliet."
