Family Shore Day

For whatever reason, at this point in time my sister Kristy's path and mine has joined in South Jersey. Who knows how long this will last, but for now, we get to enjoy it.

Life is busy, so we don't see each other on a daily, or even weekly basis, and we carved out some time on Memorial Day weekend. It was predicted to be 90 degrees, so we decided the shore would be our best bet, despite our concern that the crowds and traffic would be thick. But one great beauty of South Jersey is that the nearest beach is an hour and 10 minutes away; if it turns out to be a not-so-good-beach day, oh well, you go home.

But it was a very good beach day. There was no bad traffic, nor was the beach too crowded.

These two get to do some growing up together. They buried each other in the sand, hunted for shells, braved the cold water temperatures, and snacked.
I get a front seat to watching Miss Irie grow up too. This was her first trip to the shore, and her very first time sinking her little toes into the sand.
It's not lost on me that the circumstances of my own family's life are changing rapidly. Part of me can't believe that my girls aren't little anymore.
Molly and her friend joined us for our last hour on the beach, and for dinner after. Jovie thinks hanging out with the big girls is pretty great.
We grabbed a super yummy dinner at Surf Taco at the end of our day. Jovie fell asleep at the table shortly after this picture was taken.

For some reason, this lovely day made me quite nostalgic, and I strongly felt the need to start documenting moments like these again.
