A Most Wonderful Weekend

The weekend before Christmas, we received a wonderful gift: a visit from Jamie, Glenn and Rowan! We miss them so much and it was great to be able to hang out with them again.

We of course consumed far too many calories. We talked around the fire after the kids went to bed. Anna tried to get in as much cuddling with our friends as she could. Molly, the baby whisperer, not only fell in love with Rowan but of course managed to get him to think she was pretty fabulous too. What a little cutie pie that guy is.

We showed them Syracuse University and tried to persuade them that surely SU had another spot for another product of MSU's College of Ed doctoral program. The howling wind up on the hill made it very cold and didn't help our case. Neither did the messiness of Jeff's office, something Jamie has most definitely not been missing.

We spent a day in Skaneateles, which was decked out as a Dicken's Christmas village, complete with people dressed as and in character from "A Christmas Carol." There were free carriage rides and hot cider and donuts. We ate at the lovely Sherwood Inn, beautifully decorated as well, eating our delicious lunch with a perfect view of the lake. The picture above is the kids in front of Skaneateles Lake.

And, of course, a game of Settlers of Catan took place. The result of the game: You now must hail me, the least educated and bright member of that group, as Lord of Catan. The single benefit of the distance between their family and ours is that there will be a long span of time where I will hold the title before a rematch occurs and I will undoubtedly have to relinquish it. And Molly did guess me out of Spy Alley...
