11 at Last

Molly's birthday documentation.  Even if a little late.  We celebrated the night before her actual birthday, since Dad has to teach class on Tuesday nights now.  We had dinner at Applebee's, and Molly was thrilled that being 11, she now cannot order off the kids' menu.  She had chicken tenders, adult portion, which she didn't eat half of.

We came home to open present.  (No plural).  Present was big, awkward and unwrappable so in Rozelle (Jeff's immediate family) fashion we had a treasure hunt for it.
Moll searching for another clue.
A papasan chair!  She's been really wanting one.  Every morning since I find her curled up in it with a big stack of books:)
Notice Miss Jealous off to the side.  She was experiencing birthday envy for the first time. The treasure hunt put her over the edge.  She has told me since that she wants a treasure hunt on her birthday, and has stolen Molly's gift bag of clues and been found off in a corner trying to read them. She even took them to bed with her and hid them under the covers.
We didn't do a cake - she had a cake at Myrtle Beach when we celebrated with Jeff's family and one at her going away party.  Instead, we did something we thought she would think was fun - we went to Carol's Polar Parlor, the happenin' ice cream place, where your dog is welcome.  You can even purchase a doggy sundae.  The girls' thought this was fantastic, as did Biscuit, who still despises being left alone.  He tossed the doggy treat atop the sundae aside and spent the next 20 minutes with his smooshie face buried in the cup of ice cream.
For the record, Molly really enjoyed her ice cream as well, even though they were out of the flavor she wanted!
In our family, you cannot let the actual birthday pass uncelebrated, even if you had celebrations previously.  Molly having special birthday pancakes.  Meaning, because it was her birthday, I made her chocolate chip pancakes on which she was allowed to put whipped cream AND syrup.  Yuck.  Happy Birthday Baby!
