Pretty Awesome

I love when we stumble upon great little local events.  Last night we went to the annual Balloonfest in Jamesville.  The weather was gorgeous - blue skies with fluffy clouds and temps right around 70.  The scenery was beautiful - in a park surrounded by rolling hills and next to a little lake.  There was live music (lots of 80's covers such as "School's Out for the Summer." Which it is not.) There was the typical NY fair food (corn dogs, Italian sausages, fried dough) and standard fair rides of questionable safety.  And the spectacle of seeing lots of hot air balloons launching all at once.

Molly opted to spend the evening with friends. (This is a first in our family - getting to skip out on a family outing to be with friends instead).  Anna ate it up.  She had us to herself.  We met friends there and she had them to herself.  She could choose what we were eating and what we would be doing with no sister veto getting in the way.  And most importantly, she had the camera to herself. The following pictures, save the one with her in it that she requested I take, are hers.
A balloon just unpacked and not yet blown up.
A ballon half-way blown up.
The balloon blown up, ready to go.  Anna decided that she would not want to ride in a balloon because that mean she would have to ride with that fire too.  (I remember that thought bothering me as a kid too). She did think the "balloon chase crew" was pretty awesome though.
She also thought it was pretty awesome to find the balloons that were going to launch, then stand right there underneath them and watch them go up.
There is something pretty awesome about a sky full of hot air balloons.
This blue monster balloon was her favorite.

One of those fun summer evenings you just savor.  I enjoyed it almost as much as Anna did.

Wonderful! We have lots of balloons here. Tell Anna, we chase them come August and help bring them down. Her mom can bring her to come play. Its usually the first week in August!
