I was met with tears and protests when I announced we were leaving Tuesday morning. I gave in to all of the coaxing and cajoling and the girls and I stayed Tuesday. Mike and Kristy were at work, but the girls and I did fine navigating the city by Metro and foot. Anna had her heart set on going to the National Zoo this trip, so we spent most of the day there. Molly's camera broke on the trip, so we did not get any pictures of the pandas, baby gorilla we saw last time who is now a frolicking toddler, baby anteater riding its mother's back (did you know anteaters carried their babies on their backs?!) or adorable pack of lion cubs the girls fell in love with. The lion cubs were the hit of the day, and we spend a long time watching their antics. We also bought lion cub stuffed animals, and a mousepad which pictured each cub and their name. When we arrived back at the apartment, we had to check the "lion cam" and learn everything we possibly could from the website about these guys. Anna named her cub "Aslan" (what a surprise) and Molly named hers Baruti, both after the National Zoo's cubs.
After dinner, we walked around Crystal City, just enjoying the lovely evening. Anna put Kristy on a project: photographing Aslan around Crystal City. Kristy indulged her.

The girls had fun racing in many different forms: crabwalk, jumping jacks, etc. This was a straightforward sprint, to Molly's advantage.
Howie was quite obsessed with the unattended Aslan.

A fun, fun trip. Of course, we were talking with Mike and Kristy about all of the fun visits we have had with them, either when we've gone to them or they've come to us. Next time, there will be a new little person to join in the fun:)
