Today is officially the first day of the girl's spring break. Normally, we go. Somewhere. This year, funds are tight and going to visit any loved ones takes at least a 7 hour drive. Not only is that lots of time in the car, but gas hit the 3 bucks per gallon mark here in NY. And we're going to East Lansing (Yay! Yay! Yay!) in a few weeks for Jeff's graduation ceremonies and that will deplete the travel budget.
So we're here. We had a fun, busy weekend, which usually means an awful Monday. But, it was a beautiful, if a little chilly day. I laid down the law this morning: a chore list was presented to the girls and they were told NOTHING was going to be done until all items on the list were completed. Amazingly, they complied.
One of the things we did today was go to a park in the area that is really nice. Fun playgrounds, a bike track for younger kids, and a lot of fields to run and play in. We met some friends (and friends of friends), and had a picnic lunch.
Moll's quite proficient on the monkey bars.
From here on, the pictures are Moll's. It was not warm at all today. Only Anna ran around without a coat on.
Anna mastered the wiggly, bouncing balance beam.
The trees are blossoming in central New York now.
We stopped at Target, and I let the girls each pick a new nail polish. Moll and Anna picked new, fun colors. Mom stuck with a years old favorite that should be thrown out. I never paint my fingernails, and the polish is coming off already.
The girls convinced me to splurge on some Pepperidge Farm Milano cookies too (they were on sale). So we had a nice girly afternoon.
Day one, pretty successful. But as I was writing this post, I had to enforce a sister separation. Dad's almost home though....

These are the kind of days that are great. And you are a great mom. :)
